On the 1st December at the Judo NSW State Black Belt Grading, Budokan had a large contingent of members presenting for their next grade. The results were:
- Club Senior Beginner & Kyu Grade Coach Liam Stewart and Judo NSW Administration Officer Bjorn Tandean were promoted to 2nd Dan.
Club Junior Beginner and Fundamentals Coaches Clarissa and Jacinta Vumbaca, and Club Mons Coach Jarrad Cooper were promoted to 1st Dan. Also promoted to 1st Dan was Max Zollinger who qualified under the “Exceptional Athlete” provision allowing him to present for his grading as a Cadet. Together with Club Junior Beginner and Fundamentals Coaches Will Zollinger and Phoenix Edwards being promoted to 1st Dan Black belt at the mid-year State Grading and Kerrye’s and my 6th Dan grading at the Nationals, that’s 10 Black Belt promotions in the club this year – quite amazing. Congratulations to all of you on your promotion – the club, your coaches and no doubt your families are very proud of your achievement as you should be.
