The club’s performance at the Sydney International this year was very encouraging, with some athletes testing their performance at this level for the first time. It was a shame that we had a number of athletes unable to compete in this event due to being overseas or still recovering from injury: Beth Wade, Ali McPherson, Will Zollinger, Emma Leishman, Kyle McIndoe, Nathan Katz, who was competing at the Senior World Championships, Logan O’Brien and Naomi De Bruine. Their participation would have given the club another 8 participants in 11 divisions making 37 athletes in 49 divisions. Thanks to all the many Budokanis who stepped up to volunteer to support the Sydney International, including some of the athletes mentioned above who were unable to compete. This shows great spirit in supporting NSW’s premier competition event of the year.
