• As has been tradition at Budokan for many years, the club formally acknowledges the efforts of its athletes who strive for significant achievements and milestones by supporting them both technically on and off the mat and also financially for the Nationals. The Nationals campaign commenced with a huge weekend of Judo over the 4th and 5th May weekend with many Budokan athletes participating in the Junior and Senior NSW State Squad sessions at the NSW Nationals Camp. The camp comprised 8 hours of sessions for the Senior Squad and 6.5 hours for the Junior Squad.

  • Great work by all athletes in opening the State Squad campaign for the 2019 Nationals and in participating so strongly over the last 4 weeks during the State Squad sessions. All of you have developed over this period, many of you unable to notice the improvement, but your coaches certainly see this.
  • Our club will be represented at the 2019 Nationals by 32 athletes competing in 38 divisions (including 2 competing in “No Limits” and 2 competing in Veterans divisions). We also have 2 athletes contesting Kata events and a number of officials. Budokan’s coaching staff for NSW is Kerrye, Rob, Dale and Amber and on the refereeing staff, Lubo and Franz, in all 40 club members at the Nationals.

  • We wish you all well at the Nationals next weekend 7th to 11th June on the Gold Coast. It is unfortunate that Ben Zollinger and Zach Colman incurred injuries which will prevent them from competing but also nice that they will still travel to support their team-mates.
  • Apart from the training effort and commitment of our athletes, the families of the athletes incur a significant financial burden associated with travelling to the Nationals (in addition to the other interstate events) and this is something that the club has historically tried to relieve.
