WORKING BEES – 2ND AND 6TH JANUARY 2018 - THANK YOU!

Budokanis, thank you so much for your help. It was very hot in the hall during both working bees and there was a lot of hard work to do. On the first day, we basically stripped the hall, pulled up all the carpet, vacuumed everything, fumigated the hall, got rid of a lot of rubbish, glued and laid floor tiles and cleaned the ceiling, ceiling frame, fans, walls, and kitchen, as well as cleaned up all the dirt and leaves outside. Truly a brilliant effort from 7.45am to 4.00pm by the following 27 people:Andras Koltai, David and Zach Colman, Ben Cheon, Susie, Franz, Bjorn, Bernhard and Bianca, Kate, Gary and Crosby Peake, Alainya, Will, Max, Ben and Lily Zollinger, Sally and Beth Wade, Kyle McIndoe, Con, Christian and Alex Constantinidis, Nathan, Josh, Kerrye and Rob Katz.  Thanks to Andras for sourcing the tiles and coordinating the effort. Before the second working bee only 4 days later, we reconfigured the mats to provide 2 small competition squares and on the 6thJanuary we gave the mats a massive scrub cleanup, tidied up all areas, made some repairs and relocated our shoe racks. Thanks to Sean Brothers for taking the lead on the second working bee and to all Budokanis and the members of Universal Combat Academy and Makotokan Aikido clubs, our 3 clubs known as the Budokan Training Centre, for the huge support on the mat scrub day. There were over 70 volunteers for the second working bee so apologies for not naming everyone – what a great effort!! The result of the 2 working bees is that the club is now cleaner and fresher than it has been for many years, a massive improvement and a great start to the New Year.  The challenge now is to keep it that way.
