DOMESTIC UPDATE - Sydney International Open

Sydney International Open – 1st – 3rd March Results

  • Congratulations to the 34 athletes who contested 49 divisions (10 more divisions than 2023) in the 2024 Sydney International Open. This includes 2 athletes contesting 3 Adaptive divisions. Our group won 26 medals, 1 more than in 2023:  6 Gold (2 more than 2023), 13 Silver, 7 Bronze, 1 x 4th  / 3 x 5th / 3 x 7th places. 3 athletes also contested 2 Kata divisions winning a Gold and a Silver
  • Notably 49 competition divisions is higher than Budokan’s participation in any previous State Open and only 3 less than the 2017 Nationals where our athletes contested 52 divisions.
  • 4 of our Cadets contested 3 divisions and another 6 contested 2 divisions. Max Zollinger had 11 matches winning 9 of them and in the process gained his first State Open Senior medal. A number of the other athletes played 7-8 matches, providing valuable competition time and experience.

The competition management system “Judomanager.com” indicates that Budokan’s combined medal tally for Juniors (U13, 15), Seniors (Cadets, JM/W, SM/W), and U/11, Veterans and Adaptive divisions, was the highest of any participating club, as well as the best overall medal result. Details follow:
