INTERNATIONAL UPDATE – NATHAN AND JOSH

Ongoing Events.Josh has been preparing in Hungary for the Tashkent (Uzbekistan) Grand Slam competing on 5th March. He also went to Bratislava (Slovakia) for a training camp. Due to the significant expenses associated with last-minute changes to arrangements, costs of flights, accommodation, testing and quarantine, the budget for these athletes has been rapidly diminished. This current block of competitions will cost Josh $5000 and a lesser figure for Nathan who had to miss the Tel-Aviv and Tashkent Grand Slam events and who is now in Georgia recovering from a stomach bug. Josh will also be invoiced for the Bratislava camp ($1000-$1500). The club will do it’s best to support them. This is indeed a crazy situation for the final stage of Olympic Qualification events. The Draw for the Tbilisi Grand Slam is 2.00pm our time Thursday 25th March and the boys both compete on Friday 4.00pm our time. This will be live streamed at ippon.tv. We wish both boys a great performance and all the success they deserve. Following Tbilisi, they will compete in the Antalya Grand Slam and the Asian Oceania Continental Championships in Bishkek after which they will have their second two week quarantine on returning to Australia mid-April.
