DOMESTIC UPDATE - NSW STATE JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS

2024 NSW State Judo Championships – 24th March

  • 35 Budokan athletes participated overall, 33 in 38 contest (Shiai) divisions and 3 athletes in 2 Kata divisions. The 33 contest division athletes won 25 medals:
  • 12 Gold, 8 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.  Note that the results listed below reflect medals only where at least one match was won. This is different from the SmoothComp statistics which reflects placings regardless of wins.
  • 66% of divisions entered by Budokan’s contest athletes resulted in a medal.
  • There were 166 medals awarded. Budokan athletes won 25 (15%) of these.  There were 57 Gold medals awarded. Budokan athletes won 12 (21%).
  • The Kata athletes each won “Gold” level rankings and first places in their respective divisions with Tandeans winning the best overall Kata of the competition (BBR Sword).
  • According to SmoothComp, Budokan was the best performing club in terms of total number of medals and also total number of Gold medals. I suspect we also had the highest participation.
  • We also had a great contingent of volunteer parents who supported many activities that helped make the competition run smoothly – thank you all so much.
