2017 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – 9TH – 12TH JUNE – GOLD COAST

Team Budokan – 2017 Nationals (minus: Dale Keogh, Mark Tobin, Logan O’Brien, Jakob & Maddison Edwards, Xavier & Finn Tafft, Mina Woo, Lilli Jennings)

Whilst a full report on Budokan's results at the recent National Judo Championships is still pending, here is a recap of how our Club stacked up leading into the competition.

Budokan team representing NSW at the National Championships was the largest ever contingent of Budokan athletes to a Nationals with 37 athletes in 54 divisions plus 1 entry in Kyu Grades, 1 entry in Special Needs and 4 entries in Kata events.

Budokan athletes also comprised a significant proportion of both the NSW Junior (over 20%) and Senior (nearly 40%) State Team’s divisions. Whilst a number of new athletes competed at the National level, 75% of Budokanis competing this year had previously competed at the Nationals so we had some experienced competitors at this level.
All athletes were presented with financial support from the club on Thursday 1st June and families and athletes are truly grateful for the support. Thank you Budokan!
