NEW TRAINING FEE ON-LINE VOUCHER PURCHASE SYSTEM

A new detailed instruction has now been prepared for payment of club training fees. It will be used by:

  • new members needing to obtain a trial or full Judo NSW membership or wishing to pay for club training fees after their trial period expires; and
  • existing club members needing to renew their Judo NSW membership or wishing to pay for club training fees.

The current schedule of club training fees has also been revised – prices take effect from 1st January 2021 and represent an approximate 10% increase on current fees. The existing structure of fees remains intact whereby there are 3 schedules of fees (for Dinos, Mons/Juniors, and Seniors), and where discounts are offered for multiple family members or for longer training periods purchased. The main change is that the method of paying for club training fees will be totally on-line via a Voucher system available from a virtual Budokan Shop. If using Active Kids Vouchers, you will still need to obtain them from Service NSW and send the details to Rob; however, when purchasing a club training period voucher, you can obtain a credit for the AKV in your Shopping Cart by way of purchase of a separate credit (AKV) voucher, and then pay the balance. There could still be cases when manual payments may be needed; an example being a new family member joining the club and adjustments needed to fees previously paid for an existing family member (at the single rate).

A copy of the detailed instructions is attached to the email which includes this Newsletter. An abridged version of the process has also been developed and will be available as a handout at the club. This is also attached.

CHANGES TO OUR DOJO – WE NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE

New shoe Shelves. Many thanks go to Andras Koltai and Gary McPherson for manufacturing and installing new shoe shelves on the outside of the dojo. We really appreciate your efforts. This is a significant improvement to the old roll-out cupboards which served their purpose well. Thanks also to Andras for sourcing new matting for the outside of the hall.

  • Now that the shelves are installed, we need another generous club member / parent to donate a bit of time to paint the shelves so that they are protected from the weather. Please contact Rob if you are able to do this.

We also offer the 2 old shoe cupboards free to a good home. The only modification is that we will remove the rollers before the cupboards can be taken. Let Rob know if you are interested.

  • Crashmats. Thanks for being so quick in responding to my request to buy 5 of our old crashmats. They went very quickly and provided funding towards their replacement. We have already had the new ones delivered so we are ready to go for 2021.

  • Council. You may have noticed that Council has now installed fire-rated safety entry/exit doors and signage, emergency lighting, and a fire reel. Given the potential timeframe before we may see changes resulting from the rollout of the Showground Masterplan, we have already approached Council to see what is required for us to get some basic building improvements; such as: overhaul of the power distribution board, new roof lighting, new fans, heaters and ideally toilets. Our aim is to try to improve what we can with the building.

INTERNATIONAL UPDATE

We believe the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Judo competition will go ahead between 24-31 July 2021; we are just unsure in what form (ie spectators, athlete time at the Games, village environment, major ceremonies etc). So the qualifying journey continues with relentless determination and it is great news that Nathan has been invited to the World Masters In Doha, Qatar 11-13 January 2021 for the top 36 ranked athletes in the world in each division. Josh and Nathan will then compete in the Tel Aviv (Israel) Grand Prix in February and then we expect, in most other IJF Tour events through the qualification period to 29th June 2021. Commendably, the boys have maintained their training intensity, adjusting only for the recent inclusion to the Masters. They are highly motivated and well prepared for these upcoming events. We wish them all the success in the world.

  • Please check out the new display cabinet and the display rack at the club.

BUDOKAN RASH-VESTS (RASHIES)

The Budokan Rashies have been a major success. We encourage all our athletes to buy these items which at $35, are significantly cheaper than commercially available rashies. They can be worn underneath the Judo Jacket (not in competition) and have the benefit of (1) providing a compression circulation effect, (2) improve hygiene, (3) minimise Judogi chafing (4) improve warmth in Winter, and of course making you invincible by wearing the Budokan logo and dinosaur
