Budokan had 26 athletes contesting 30 competition divisions last weekend at the SIO as well as 6 athletes contesting 5 Kata divisions. It was great to be back in a competition venue and despite a few gliches, the competition ran well and everyone was happy to be back in competition mode.

  • Overall club results were:

8 x Gold, 3 x Silver and 6 x Bronze medals, 4 x 5th places and 9 unplaced. This means 57% of divisions contested by Budokan athletes resulted in a medal and 70% of contested divisions resulted in a medal match.Kata divisions resulted in 3 x Gold, 1 x Silver and 1 x Bronze.  Congratulations to all our athletes, in particular those contesting State Open level competition for the first time and those who medalled in or even won their first State Open. BUDOKAN MONS / JUNIOR TOURNAMENT (14TH MARCH)

Budokan will be holding its 24th Junior NSW competition for Mons and Junior Boys and Girls age categories on Sunday 14th March. A notice is attached to the email enclosing this newsletter. Please read this carefully.

  • The format is different from previous years. Mons and Junior sessions will be completely separate with Junior weigh-in only commencing after the Mons medal ceremony and Mons/parents exiting from the hall. Number of spectators will also be limited and controlled. Novice grades divisions will be provided, minimum grade White-Yellow Belt. Minimum age is turning 6 years in 2021. Weight divisions will be determined on the day.

Of course we will still need volunteers for many of the available roles. Please assist wherever you can, especially the more experienced members and parents who can also help new people to be trained. The Volunteer sheet attached to the email with this newsletter shows the jobs available. This will be available at the club from 25th Feb for you to write down your name against a task.

Entries close 2345 Thursday 11th March. No entries will be accepted on the day.

  • We will also be running a fund-raising raffle at the competition, so could each family bring something that could be used to create hampers as prizes. These can be left at the club on the table at the back of the hall.
