VALE – DAVID WILLISON

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the passing of club member David Willison after a long illness. David was a member of the club for many years commencing Judo as an adult after his children became active members of the Junior class.  Reaching the grade of Senior 1st Kyu (brown belt) David competed in Kyu Grades and Masters competitions, even representing NSW at the Nationals.  He later became interested in studying and competing in Kata. Our sympathies go out to David’s wife Geena and his two sons Karl and Erik, both of whom were members of the club for a number of years as Juniors.

2022 BUDOKAN CHRISTMAS PARTY – 26TH NOVEMBER

Our Christmas party last year was so popular that we have decided to make this a regular social event. Budokan is booking out the Ryde Aquatic Centre for our annual Christmas celebrations this year. Our members and families will have exclusive use of the pool with food and drink being provided 6.00 – 9.00pm on the 26th November. See the notice attached to the email accompanying this Newsletter. RSVP is by 19th November. RSVP to katzfamily@iinet.net.au is required to allow a list to be made available for pool security staff. If your name is not on the list, you will not be allowed entry on the night.

2022 BUDOKAN ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT – 8TH DECEMBER, 6.30PM FOR 7.15PM START

For the first time since 2019, a full Budokan Annual Awards Night will be held this year on Thursday 8th December. There will be no Junior and Senior classes on this night. Club member Carlo Barbarulo has kindly agreed to cater for our event which is a great treat for everyone who has previously experienced (or is yet to experience) his wonderful wood-fired pizzas. See https://www.pizzaalfresco.com.au/

  • It would be greatly appreciated if any club members who still hold club award perpetual trophies (the ones with lots of names of previous award winners on them), please return them as soon as possible so we can have them engraved and available for the evening. All club members of all classes and their families are welcome to attend.
